Initiatives to keep systems, services and infrastructure running as smoothly as possible have included:
- Rehabilitation of a large number of common, private sewer lines within the zone. Common lines were a source of frustration to many residents, and the Old Sixth Ward TIRZ project gave them the opportunity to obtain a new sewer line connecting their residence to a public line within the public right of way. The organization partnered with the City of Houston Public Works Department to accomplish these improvements.
- Rehabilitation of public sewer lines within the zone in a project that has totaled more than $2.3 million.
- Development of plans to reconstruct Hemphill Street from an asphalt road with drainage ditches to a standard curb-and-gutter road. This project is still in the planning phases.
